Water Forum -
Water and Our Shared Future:
A Local, Regional and State Report

I am deeply grateful for the over 100 e-mails I have received with very kind words re: our Water Forum. The only negative comments I have received was that we had too many people in attendance (and that UTSA had purchased two tables and I thought it was one). This was the largest attended luncheon event in the history of Pearl Stable – and that is not necessarily a good thing.

This was our 3rd Major Forum and many would say it was the best. I would tend to agree for these reasons:

  1. Wonderful kick-off remarks by Mayor Castro and Speaker Straus.
  2. Bob Rivard’s decision to move from three participant presentations to a "serious conversation on water issues" format.
  3. A most impressive panel in Messrs: Puente, Labatt, and Gulley
  4. The presence of almost the entire Texas House of Representatives Committee’s on Natural Resources.
  5. KLRN television and Texas Public Radio’s agreement to broadcast our Forum in primetime.
  6. The invaluable input of our Planning Committee and the wonderful support of the SAWS staff.

Thanks to all for your support of this critically important Forum. - Mike Burke
